MyaMoon jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver and coated with a 3-micron layer of rhodium or rose gold, giving each piece a long-lasting shine and lustre.
Silver oxidises easily and can become dull or dark over time. With proper care, however, your jewellery can remain beautiful and fresh for years.
The main enemies of silver jewellery are cosmetics, household chemicals, moisture and prolonged periods of non-use. A good example is silver cutlery, which can become completely black over time. Regular care helps keep silver looking fresh and radiant.
We recommend removing your silver jewellery before going to bed and, especially, taking off rings when doing household chores. Household chemicals, cleaning products and even frequent hand washing are not friendly to silver jewellery. It is also best to remove your jewellery before exercising, as increased perspiration, water exposure and sauna heat can affect the jewellery.
Store silver jewellery separately from other pieces. If you are storing it for a longer period, it is best kept in an airtight pouch, ideally with a small piece of aluminium foil inside.
For cleaning silver jewellery, we recommend using a jewellery cleaning solution available from jewellers. Pieces without stones can be fully immersed in a suitable cleaning solution. Jewellery with semi-precious or precious stones should instead be gently cleaned with a cloth dipped in the cleaning solution and then thoroughly rinsed under running water. Household alternatives such as citric acid and baking soda can also be used for cleaning, but avoid rubbing the jewellery, as this may damage the soft metal.
If your jewellery has become scratched, it can be refreshed. MyaMoon offers cleaning and polishing services for beloved pieces of jewellery.
Pearls require particularly gentle care. They can be damaged by contact with chemicals, direct sunlight, grease and oils. Jewellery with pearls should be stored separately in a jewellery box or wrapped in a soft cloth. We recommend having pearl jewellery professionally cleaned by a jeweller.
Gold-plated jewellery can also oxidise and may be cleaned using the methods described above. However, please keep in mind that the gold plating will not last forever and will naturally wear with regular use. MyaMoon does not currently offer re-plating, but the gold layer can be renewed by professional jewellery workshops.
